Spring is over and summer is here but we can still see the traces of spring in blooming roads and gardens of Lahore. Spring was just wonderful here, which prevented us from writing about the trends earlier. Nevertheless we are here once again with our list of the best trends of Spring/Summer 2014. There were some new trends this year and some still stretching from last year. However we tried our best to give you something refreshing as we do every year, especially during summers. 😉
Spring and summer are mostly about colors but this time around designers kept it minimal with colors. There were a lot of whites, neutrals, and lightest hues of every shade. Even black was spread all over this season which is bizarre for summers but it still look fab!!! This year there were too many trends that none of the trendiest color could make it to our list. 😦 With this list we tried to give you the overall feel of summers this year. Maybe weill do another post for colors of the season. But for now let’s get on with our list.
10- Metallic: This trend just keeps coming back. Sometimes you would witness metallic shoes, sometimes it’s about metallic bags, metallic jackets, etc. This time around designer either experimented with full dress or with hints of accessories giving out metallic shimmer.
9- Tea Length Skirts: This is for those who want to fight the heat of summers with grace. Flowy or structured it will give you appearance of a lady.
8- Flat sandals: Practical, practical and pretty! Why bother your feet and legs with stilettos when there are myriad of colorful and yummy options are available. Just pamper your feet this season, let them peak from behind those yummy straps, representing your style; it can be funky, edgy or elegant. Flats are available for all kinds and they do not even hurt your babies after pedi and message. It is a perfect way to move around this summer with friends.
7- Pop art: Floral and geometric shapes are definitely in this season but our favorite print theme turns out to be ‘pop art’. It is fresh, cool, young and hip and you do not even have to be in your teens to carry this trend. Put together correctly and in accordance to your personality it will give you edge with a twist of ease.
6- Scarf: Put it on head and safe your locks with sun and keep yourself sane by protecting yourself from heat. Or tie it from your bag. We believe it is best around your neck so simply let it dangle from your neck in multiple twists and knots. Ideas to take from imitate tie, cowboy scarf, 50s divas, and bohos! wedges
5- Black and white: Night and day, yin and yang, dark and light!! This season we are going black and white as apparently it was the most preferred color duet this season.
4- Wedges: Look taller without being uncomfortable. This trend best goes with capris, shorts and skirts. We adored Tommy Hilfiger color wedges giving out sporty feel, Donna Karan’s neutral shades wedges reminded us of safari and Dolce and Gabbana’s artistry on them.
3- Fringed Bags: This 60s trend is here with a bang. And we love it. Although fringes this season are everywhere, jackets, dresses, and shoes, but bags were just awesome. 😀
2- horizontal stripes: We are just loving it since it is a break from vertical stripes, which fashion prefers because it makes you look leaner and taller but this one here breaking stereotypes and still looking fabulous, if one knows how to and where to use it.
1- Statement sunglasses: It’s a must. You cannot go around in blazing sun without one. Yes there were big glasses that made you look like bees, then aviators and bold frames. This season you experiment and make statement with your sun guards protecting your beautiful assets.
